If CD Architect was $2,000 for a Mac Platform of the software and had the VST support. If they added VST support, I would be in heaven since I would like to do my final limiting when I author the CD. I can't find anything as good as CD Architect for authoring, and I have downloaded many demos. I more simply just need a CD authoring program. I do not need another application that provides a bunch of plug-ins that I won't use. But I use all Waves Plug-ins to do my mastering in Pro Tools. So this is for clients, not for my own stuff. I do most of the mastering that comes through my studio. I've been doing this for almost 40-years and there isn't a 'cheap' way to do it right! If you only want this for your own stuff, then you really should be spending the money on someone else doing your mastering. Yes and I have to ask, are you mastering your own material, or do you do this for a living and charge people to do mastering? If the latter, then soundBlade will pay for itself in NO TIME. It seems like all the software that has these things is $500 or more and comes with way more stuff than I would ever use. The more I hear about Waveburner, the more I am leaning towards Logic Pro. Which includes use VST plug-ins, Trim the beginning and end of songs, View them in a nice playlist view, draw in volume automation and write in CD Text. Since I do all my mastering (minus limiting) in Pro Tools, I just need a program that allows me to program CD's as well as CD Architect. I am really not looking for a huge feature set program. Holy crud! Is Sound Blade really $2k? I could buy Logic Pro, DSP Quattro 3.1 and Peak Pro and Waves CLA plug-ins Native for that price. You can always start with PMCD and upgrade later to soundBlade for the difference in price. If you want to use plug-ins, then you'll need to look at soundBlade: No playlist necessary!! It works just like placing markers in ProTools, except THESE markers are the CDPQ codes. You add all of your audio files, place your START and END markers, change levels, save as DDP, etc. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but have you looked as Sonic Studio's PreMaster CD? What do you guys think? Buy DSP Quattro for $150 (crossgrade) or save the money for Logic Pro? I don't want to spend more than $200 unless it was on a purchase like Logic Pro. Wavelab LE looks like it is about the same as Peak LE. Peak LE is way to consumer based as well as Toast 9 (which I do own). I do think I would like to own a copy of Logic some time in the future, but it isn't that urgent for me yet. In fact, it looks like you can only get it by purchasing Logic Pro. A few other little quirks.Īnyways, many people seem to use Waveburner, but there is no way to be able to try it out. such as I don't think you can add nodes to the volume envelope on each track which really limits what you can do. It seems to be pretty close to what I want. In any case, I am checking out DSP Quattro. I would really like it if you could draw in automation envelopes for your plug-ins too. I am looking for an application that allows you to layout your CD with all the usual CD mastering stuff such as CD Text, Volume Envelopes (draw throughout the songs), Trimming of the audio and the ability to use my Waves plug-ins (I like to do my final limiting in this stage). So I am absolutely dying to find a great CD burning application to replace CD Architect. I'm loving it.CD Architect rocks! But since Waves has dropped DX support and CD Architect doesn't have VST support, I am forced to find something else. plus it burns Redbook discs and will output to DDP files. It hosts VST / AU plug-ins and you can do a heck of a lot. I do all my mastering inside DSP-Quattro now. They have a free demo you can check out for a while before you buy it. and the new DSP-Quattro v.4 has been vastly improved. I had always wished for a Stereo Editor + Disc Burner (like I used to have in the PC world with WaveLab). but in the past the PlayList-burning (their answer to disc authoring) left a lot to be desired. Waveburner is effectively dead.įor years, I had been using Waveburner for my authoring, but this italian software DSP Quattro for my stereo file editing and my sample-looping. But I feel for the folks who are buying Logic Pro through the App Store, cause yeah. I will say this Waveburner was kinda cool, but it had some frustrating drawbacks, in the way navigation worked and whatnot. Yeah, this has been frustrating for a lot of folks who worked in WB.
